The Ataxioceratidae is a family of Upper Jurassic ammonites that make up part of the Perisphinctaceae. Shells are ribbed, coiling is generally more or less evolute. Seven subfamilies are included: Ataxioceratinae Lithacoceratinae Franconitinae Richterellinae Paraulacosphinctinae Sublithacoceratinae Torquatisphinctinae The Ataxioceratinae was removed from the Perisphinctidae where it previously rested. The Lithococeratinae is sometimes given family rank as the Lithococeratidae into which the Franconitindae and Rechterellinae are sometimes placed.
