The player controls Sonic using the directional pad on the left side of the game. The up direction allows Sonic to jump. On the right side of the system there is a large button which enables Sonic to use his "Super Sonic Spin". In addition there are four function buttons to turn off the system, toggle sound effects, pause the game, and a button that both turns on the system and starts the game.
