Gita Sanura Divakuruni was a Starfleet line officer of Bengali descent active in the 23rd century. Divakuruni was born in 2247 in the Serpent Swarm asteroid belt of the Alpha Centauri system. In 2274, she began studies at the Starfleet Academy Command Staff College. Among her classmates were Alexander Rosenzweig (with whom she would have a brief fling years later), Janna Talmadge and Shrevas sh'Zanasethri. (Star Trek: Avenger: "Belonging"; Star Trek: Shadowstar Station: "Pomp and Circumstantial Evidence") Pandora was mysteriously lost with all hands in Triangle space in 2302.
