Greg was a Topangan at the Glenview defensive wall some thirty years after The Change when Bruce Delgado led his Chatsworth Lancers and other Valley forces in an invasion attempt. He was wounded in the leg by a Valley pikeman when the wall was breached by a battering ram and fell to the ground in pain. He was saved from a fatal thrust by Jared Tillman who flung dirt into the pikeman's face blinding him and then stabbing him in his unarmored belly with his sword. Jared then helped Greg stand up and gave him the pike to use as a staff to help him retreat behind the lines. Greg did so while Jared went forward.
