Jake and his mother were amongst the many people evacuated to the Mushroom Hill Zone following the destruction of the Death Egg. Knuckles the Echidna did a thorough job of clearing the Floating Island of Badniks, but was wrong-footed when an EggRobo appeared in Mushroom Hill and seemed to kidnap Jake from his bed. Jake's horrified mother discovered that Jake was no longer in his bed and learned from the congregation outside that the Badnik had kidnapped him.
