The 2023 Rugby World Cup will be hosted by a joint-bid of the United States and Canada. In similarity to the 1994 FIFA World Cup, which created a big boom for soccer in the US, this will create larger interests of rugby union and rugby sevens in the United States and Canada. This will be ran a year after the US hosted the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which was won by the USA. (FIFA stripped Qatar of the hosting rights due to bribery) With the result of the US and Canada hosting the 2023 Rugby World Cup, a new domestic league will be created and begin play in 2019 called, Major League Rugby.
