The Mad Scientist is a recurring character in the 1970's Electric Company skits. In some skits, he would make words that he thinks will revolutionize the world only for his assistant to point out other words that are similar. He is the main antagonist in the Spidey Super Stories segment "The Beastly Banana" where he plans to capture Paul the Gorilla and abuse him in a series of experiments. Spidey follows a trail of banana peels and catches up with Paul in the nick of time. Just as Paul is about to eat it, Spidey grabs the tainted fruit. The Mad Scientist tries to flee but Spidey nails him in his web.
