Azrael is a lesser demon. He was born over 300 years ago. He died young, smitten with plague, and became a whitelighter. Shortly after, he abandoned the Light and joined the Darkness, becoming a demon. There are rumours that he is an agent of the Elders, but they are unsubstantiated. He has allied with agents of the Light before, however. The most prominent ally so far was the witch Shanna O'Neil, whom Azrael helped banish three upper demons; Vizzen, Alastor and Vrail. Unfortunately, the three has recently returned to exact their vengeance upon Azrael and the descendents of Shanna.
