The Affair of the Goblin Pretender is a conflict that occurred in 1080, after King Edvard of Ehb was driven mad by Grand Mage Olvis, and proclaimed himself the 'King of Goblins'. Edvard moved the royal court to the crumbling fortress of Wesrin Cross, where he remained until the dramatic confrontation between the treasonous Olvis and his apprentice, Merik. Merik put a stop to his former master's plans, and was promoted to Grand Mage of the 10th Legion as a result.
