Bateye was an old male ferret member of Ferahgo the Assassin's Corpsemakers. Because he complained about the quality of food, Ferahgo tortured him by making him eat a hard crust of bread from the Assassin's skinning knife, for he had no teeth and the stale bread made his gums bleed. Fortunately for him, Klitch and Goffa arrived and interrupted the torturing. He was probably killed in the final battle for Salamandastron.
