The Mariotian sector is a sector of space approximate to Federation space, near Starbase 44. By the 2260s, the Mariotian sector remained largely unexplored by Starfleet. In 2267 however, they dispatched the USS Enterprise to conduct a survey mission of the region. Among the star systems located in this sector was the Beta Mariotia system, which contained at least one habitable planet, Beta Mariotia III. (TOS comic: "No Compromise Part One")
