An authorization subroutine was a subroutine involved in the computer access to restricted files. In 2370, Kira Nerys tried to learn who had accessed and deleted files in the Vedek Assembly records. Miles O'Brien was able to run a sweep of the authorization subroutine, revealing parts of the retinal scan used to access the files. (DS9: "The Collaborator")
