A ticket-chip was an electronic device used by passengers to legally board starships, such as the luxury liner Kuari Princess. They were coin-sized plastic datachips which had personal information encoded on them including the holder's height, weight, and date of birth, and their scheduled trip. They were read by scanners at transportation gates, and by stormtroopers and customs officials with a hand-held version.
