Bideford was a village in the United States of Atlantis. In 1843, Bideford was a small village consisting of a few houses, a tavern and one church, the House of Universal Devotion. That strange, Protestant denomination had a strong presence in Bideford, a fact discovered by John James Audubon and Edward Harris. The two stopped at the tavern for lunch and were lectured about the House by the patrons. They also received a tip where honkers could be found from Lehonti Kent after offering a monetary reward for information. Kent directed them to the other side of Thetford, another small town to the northeast of Bideford.
