Catalepsy, or being in a cataleptic state, was a nervous condition characterized by muscular rigidity and fixity of posture regardless of external stimuli. In 2268, Doctor Leonard McCoy noted that a speechmaking John Gill appeared almost cataleptic, not realizing he'd been drugged. (TOS: "Patterns of Force" ) As a side effect of DNA resequencing, Sarina Douglas suffered from catalepsy. (DS9: "Statistical Probabilities") Julian Bashir cured it later on with the help of Jack, Patrick, and Lauren. (DS9: "Chrysalis")
