The Supreme Chancellor, the Vice Chair, and the Chancellor's Staff Aide were the only ones who could sit in the podium while the Senate scribe, journal clerk, parliamentarian, and Sergeant at Arms sat in a level below them. When the podium was not in session, it would rest in the Chancellor's holding office, which was directly below. It also had controls for the senator's repulsorpods. When the Empire rose to power, the podium was no longer occupied by the Chancellor but by the Grand Vizier.
