Android, Inc. was a privately owned company that was founded in 2003 by Andy Rubin, Richard Miner, Chris White, and Nick Sears. It was acquired by Google in 2005. It operated under a "cloak of secrecy", so no one knew what the company was working on. However, it was actually working on the Android operating system.
