Ushikirimaru literally means "cow-cutting blade" (牛切丸). 牛 - ushi (cow), 切 - setsu or kiri (carve, slice, cut), 丸 - maru(an honorific used to personify blades). It should also be noted that the kanji for cow (牛) is also the character for "cow" in the Chinese Zodiac.
