A failed attempt was made by humans to capture Arceus, and this action only served to invoke His wrath. Judging mankind to be a menace whose actions will only lead to destruction, Arceus decided to launch a massive cleansing and began recruiting other Legendary Pokémon to His cause. However, several of them disagreed with His reasoning, aware of the presence of good and pure humans on the planet. When Arceus refused to listen to their voices, they split off from His faction and sought to protect the humans.
