Deraff, a Dzurlord, was a maternal second cousin of Tazendra. A tactician, Deraff was caught in an ambush and killed during his first campaign. To say the least, the manner of Deraff's untimely end raises questions about his effectiveness as a tactician. Tazendra hilariously offers the story of Deraff as proof that there is intelligence in her family.
