The operations table (jokingly dubbed the "gaming table" by readers after seeing Phil Foglio's [ alternate dialogue] [[Chronology - Volume #|✣ ]] for a scene including the table) is what the Deep Thinkers aboard Castle Wulfenbach use to coordinate battlefield plans. On it are red pyramids representing land forces and red dirgibles on stands to represent air forces. The map laid out on the operations table is a large, highly detailed, and accurate three-dimensional model of the area where the battle is located.
