If the player chooses to follow Amita, the area will be permanently blocked off by rock debris (from a rockslide created using explosives). Interestingly enough, returning to this area after completion of the game will reveal a completely unaffected road, regardless of whether or not Ajay chose to block it off. You may choose to cause the rockslide again, should you like to.
