The Confederate Camel Corps were the heirs of the original Fifth Cavalry (informally the Fifth Camelry) of the Confederate Army. The Corps continued to operate in the desert regions of the Confederacy. In 1941, the Corps staged a daring raid in New Mexico destroying a U.S. Army depot full of ammunition.
