The Basilisk, also known as the SAURIA in the NES version, is an enemy in the original Final Fantasy. They only appear later in the game, as a random encounter on the Cardia Islands, a chain most associated with dragons. Basilisks appear on the island that contains Bahamut's throne. Later, they appear in Chaos Shrine, where they are easy to defeat.
