The Labour Party was a former Political party in the Republic of Ireland. It was set in 1914 after the Dublin 1913 Lockout by Trade Unions. It was wet up as a Political sector of the Irish Trade Union Congress by Easter Rising leader, one of the causes for Independence, Socialist Leader James Connolly who believed in Ireland as a Socialist Republic. The Party had Micheal D.Higgins elected as president in 2011-2018 as Presidents in Ireland have 7 year terms. He was not re-elected. Joan Burton served as Tanaiste (deputy prime minister) from 2014-2016
