The Alifabe was a giant, worm-like creature which lived in the matter-lining of hyperspace. One became ill and fell to Earth, landing in Manchester in 2011. The empathic nodule on the top of its head was badly damaged so the creature had crawled to the highest point it could find, a tower block. It became a target for a military air-strike, but the Eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond used the satellite dishes on the side of the building to boost an interspatial signal, enabling the creature to return home safely.
