The 1960 National 400 was a Grand National (now Nextel Cup Series]] event held at Lowe's Motor Speedway on October 16, 1960. Fireball Roberts crashed while leading, allowing Speedy Thompson to drive by, lead the last 44 laps and hold off Richard Petty by one lap for Thompson's first victory of the year.
