Houkese was the language of the Houks. It was the official language of the Houk native planet Lijuter, but not of their colony on the Weequay homeworld Sriluur. It was mainly formed by grunts, with subtle tonal inflections to differentiate words that would otherwise sound the same. Written Houkese used primitive ideograms with one letter to represent each simple verbs, but complex pictograms to represent nouns. "Chikra" was a Houk term of endearment for young.
