He was born in the Star Kingdom of Manticore in 1792 PD, and later joined the Navy. When the Prolong Treatment became available in the late 1820s PD, he was already to old to receive it. In 1844 PD, he held the rank of Commander and served as commanding officer of the destroyer HMS Wolverine. His first officer at the time was Crown Prince Roger Winton, leaving Wyeth in the peculiar situation of having an XO with a higher security clearance than himself.
