Anu was the first to develop a memory extraction device which was intended to transfer the memories of a deceased being into the brain of a living being. This was tested for the first time on Adam, the son of a Mogadorian General (Andrakkus), with an unexpected outcome that they would never know about. Instead of the intended results, Adam was subjected to a three year coma during which he witnessed a large amount of Number One's memories.
