David Beckett (born 1952) appeared in Coronation Street between April and September 1990 as joiner Dave Barton who provided a love interest for Deirdre Barlow after her marriage split with Ken Barlow following his affair with Wendy Crozier. On television he has played a range of parts in comedies such as Allo, Allo! and dramas such as The Pickwick Papers, The Bill, Emmerdale and Heartbeat. One lasting legacy of his time on the Street is that he and his co-star Anne Kirkbride became real-life partners as a result of working together and were married in 1992.
