He started out as a normal slave for France. He worked for Captain Corde. The captain lowered pay, and Lapon's family was going hungry. He begged Corde to let Lapon be a Pravateer for France. Corde took pity, and made Lapon a privateer. He made his own crew, and set off sailing towards the Spanish Islands.
