Thresher Jim was a simple farmer who entered the Crucible and became its first champion. He became as famous as any Hero, and his rugged good looks sparked a whole new celebrity culture. When he died, he was buried just outside the Crucible. When the Hero of Bowerstone first journeyed to Westcliff, Jim's tombstone could still be found there. It read, "Thresher Jim. First Crucible Champion and all-round nice guy."
