In the early 24th century, renewal scrolls were purchased. In areas where people were poor, like Korto City, some people with low incomes would pool their money and buy a large renewal scroll. A religious figure, such as a prylar, would write the people's problems on the large scroll before burning it. Kubus Oak, from the better off Qui'al, found the practice distasteful.
