The Konservative Partei leadership election was called due to the resignation of Secretary of State for Trade & Industry, Anna Soubrie from her position in cabinet and as Trade & Industry Spokesperson within the party in protest of the party's leadership (specifically Rudolf Hammond), encouraging Deputy Leader of the party Ernst Kolbeck to stand against him in a leadership contest as well as the proposed government increase in cooperation tax, labelling the government as "anti-business."
