A fake Clockwork Smurf was created by Gargamel in the comic book story "The Clockwork Smurf". While having the same physical mechanisms as the real Clockwork Smurf, this one dispensed a liquid form of fake sarsaparilla through the nozzle in his Smurf hat that had mutated the other Smurfs. Later on, as the Smurfs returned to their village with the real Clockwork Smurf, Gargamel told his fake Clockwork Smurf to drink a superstrength potion, but he mistakenly drank an explosive potion and blew himself up.
