Also member of the School Board for London and from 1900 an alderman on Bermondsey Borough Council, being Mayor of Bermondsey in 1907-08. Member of the London School Board, elected for Southwark 1891 1894, 1897 1900 One of the shortest-serving British MPs, being elected as the Conservative candidate for Bermondsey in a by-election in October 1909 but failing to hold the seat after the General Election that followed the dissolution of Parliament in December 1909.
