The Extra World is a social game using a free-to-play model, where the game itself is free, but some items and services must be purchased using real money. Prior to its release, it held a promotion for pre-registered users to receive an Io Nitta card. In July of 2013, it had reached over 100,000 registered players. It features most of the demons that appeared in the original Devil Survivor 2 and Devil Survivor 2 The Animation. In the game, players take on the role of humans who have stumbled into a parallel world being invaded by the Septentrion. Characters from both the game and animation series appear as characters within The Extra World.
