New Queensland was formed from an old-world ideal of reclaiming the north. Former Queensland and Australian Rugby League captain, Mal Meninga, came out of his reclusive lifestyle, lived in a dis-used gold mine shaft in Mount Isa, after noticing that the new-world Republic of Queensland led by the flamboyant King Wally [2] , was not adequately using the land north of the former Tropic of Capricorn. Rather than leave it to desolate, post-apocolyptic waste, Meninga traveled in secrecy to Townsville to see what was left of the former northern hub. It was here he found a small garrison of 200 citizens bunkered down underneath a football stadium already plotting a way to reclaim the northern part of former old-world Queensland.
