Coach Don Shula was let go after the season, a disappointing one many attributed to the hangover of losing to the heavy-underdog Jets in the Super Bowl the year before. It is one of the first instances of a Super Bowl hangover – in which the team that lost a Super Bowl underperforms a year later.
