Grand-Magister Valerius Potter, 16th Duke of Inverness (1813 - 1882) was a pure-blood wizard and a member of the noble branch of the Potter family. He was the son of Ignatius Potter and his wife Agatha. He would later marry Helvia Crouch and the two would have a son called Thaddeus, who succeeded his father as Duke of Inverness. While raised in a family which endorsed pure-blood supremacy equally as the Black family did, the lack of presence of his father led to Valerius seeking other sources of learning, leading to his somewhat moderate views of blood purity.
