Demos was a provincial and little populated planet that had benefited greatly from its membership in the Taung Confederacy, and then the Onderonian Empire. Within a idyll serenity, Demos' decorative architecture expressed the planet's philosophy of trade and a harmonious way of life. The Zhell on Demos came to regard their privilege as a birthright, and did not realize the extent to which they were dependent on the core strength of a galactic government to protect them.
