It was primarily used with a shoto, as the form consists mostly of swinging the saber around the body, and a longer lightsaber would cut into the user's body. Ironically, one Dark Jedi tried to use this form with his double-bladed lightsaber, but sliced himself in half a mere three seconds into the duel.
