Most games put them as equal, others claim Sonic is faster. Although Shadow can use his air-shoes to skate as faast as Sonic can run, it is possible that his running speed (unaided by air-shoes) is slower than Sonic's. In Sonic Chronicles, Shadow admitted that he can't outrun Sonic, but he can outfight him.
