Percival Mounsey was the cook aboard the Devon Belle, and talented at his job. He enjoyed the climate in the Caribbean better than that of England. When the La Petite Marie returned fire on the Devon Belle, the chain shot knocked off the foremast, which ended up falling on Mounsey and killing him. After his death, Moore became the new cook.
