The East African mole rat (Tachyoryctes splendens) is a species of rodents in the Spalacidae family found in Ethiopia and Somalia. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, dry savanna, subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland, and subtropical or tropical high-altitude grassland.
