Limit strength is considered to be absolute strength enhanced by ergogenic substances of any type (including supplements or drugs), hypnosis, electrotherapy, or other techniques. Where absolute strength is reached solely through training, such aids increase the potential for strength above the normal capacity. There are three kinds of limit strength: eccentric strength (how much weight you can lower without losing control), static strength (how much weight you can hold stationary without losing control), and concentric strength (how much weight you can lift one time with an all-out muscle contraction).
