The Romulan Central Information Net was the primary database system employed by the Romulan Star Empire. (TOS novel: Captain's Blood) Access to the Information Net was high restricted and protected by a progressive encryption lock featuring a forty-three part cypher key which made it difficult for enemies to enter into. The Klingon Empire made numerous attempts at penetrating the Information Net but were unsuccessful.
