Shiba Taiji was a bushi of the Phoenix Clan. He participated in the Topaz Championship of 1156 defeating Kakita Orihime in one of the rounds. He joined the guard at Shiro Shiba upon his return home. In 1166 he became a sensei of experienced soldiers.
