Bek Gillen was a Bajoran male who became the host of an editorial program following the outbreak of the Dominion War in 2374. He was known for being highly critical of the Bajoran Council of Ministers and Federation policy regarding Bajor and the war. Among his warnings were that Starfleet was planning on confiscating civilian-owned phasers from Bajoran citizens. Heeding this erroneous warning, a Bajoran assassin killed and wounded several Federation diplomats on Bajor believing "the Starfleets were coming to take our guns away."
